Several other SNPs also showed suggestive associations (Supplementary Table 6), including rs141973904 (P = 4.40 × 10−7, β = −0.05, SE = 0.01; MAF = 0.02; Supplementary Fig. 2) in an intron of ADH1C, replicating previous findings for that same SNP in a GWAS of alcohol consumption in males (Clarke et al. 2017), and broadly consistent with numerous previous genetic studies of AUD (Thomasson et al. 1991; Edenberg 2007; Frank et al. 2012; Biernacka et al. 2013).
