SF3A3 encodes a splicing factor with no prior links to BP other than our reported association and eQTL. At the CFDP1 locus our sentinel SNV is in high LD (r2 = 0.95) with a variant previously associated with carotid intimal-medial thickness. Collectively our findings highlight a potential common mechanism among these genes in vascular remodelling that has previously been observed in small resistance arteries in essential hypertension28.
