drinking weeks). Animals were sacrificed at 3 time points: 0-, 8- and 120-hours following the last ethanol vapor or air treatment. RNA purification, quantification and quality assessment were performed as in [26]. Briefly, total RNAs were purified using the MagMax 96 for Microarrays (Ambion, Austin, TX) kit using a modified protocol that allowed recovery of small and microRNAs, as well as total RNA. RNAs were quantified on a NanoDrop 1000 spectrophotometer (Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc., Rockland, IL) and RNA quality was assessed on either the Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer or 2200 TapeStation (Agilent Technologies, Santa Clara, CA). Recovery of low molecular weight RNAs (i.e., <200 nucleotides) was confirmed by presence of a diffuse band/peak around 100 nucleotides. (These are the same RNAs prepared in [26]; the protocol modification was inadvertently omitted from that publication.)
