Finally, we applied MAGENTA to 966 nuclear-encoded human mitochondrial genes taken from the MitoCarta compendium (∼85% of all mitochondrial genes; see Materials and Methods) [22]. We did not observe significant enrichment of T2D associations for the whole set of mitochondrial genes either (Table 3; nominal = 0.91). A more detailed view of the mitochondrial gene score distribution is shown in Figure S7C (see Table S12 for a list of all mitochondrial gene association p-values).
