(4) A regression analysis approach [49] was employed to remove these potential remaining contaminants from subsequently created EEG coherence data. Representative frontal slow EEG spectral activity representing residual eye blink and representative frontal-temporal EEG spectral fast activity representing residual muscle artifact were used as independent variables within multiple regression analysis, where coherence variables were treated as dependent variables. Residuals of the dependent variables, now uncorrelated with the chosen independent artifact variables, were used for the subsequent analyses.
