We tested performance of these biomarkers in the public gene expression data from hippocampus samples from elder non-demented and AD subjects (GSE1297). We found that at least half of genes in each of the biomarkers preserved their coherence. In addition, we found that Alz was strongly elevated in 5 out of 7 severe cases of AD and correlated with MMSE (ρ = −0.37, p = 0.04). Figure S2B shows the distribution of Alz scores among different severity groups. Other biomarkers did not show any significant association with MMSE.
