utility of genetic testing, beliefs regarding the benefits and risks of genetic testing, and previous involvement in research are associated with participant's willingness to engage in health-related genetic research. Study participants reporting higher levels of trust and engagement with providers were more likely to report a willingness to engage in health related research than those who did not. The most surprising were the findings that the vast majority of the African American men and women involved in the study reported support of health-related genetic research; however, most indicated that they had “never been asked.”
