These results suggest that deletions associated with other neurodevelopmental disorders may also contribute to OCD and TS. Converging lines of evidence specifically implicate 16p13.11 deletions, with stronger evidence for OCD than TS. While it is premature to make clinical recommendations based on these observations, we note that tic and obsessive-compulsive symptoms often occur in the context of other neurodevelopmental disorders, such as ASD and ID, where practice parameters do recommend chromosomal microarray testing.40 Future studies should help to refine clinical guidelines as to whether CNV testing might be indicated for children with TS and/or OCD in general or be restricted to those with multiple co-occurring neurodevelopmental disorders.
