The mean peak N4 amplitude for the LR group was 2.00 µV (SE = .92) and −2.23 µV (SE = .68) for the primed and unprimed words respectively. Mean peak amplitude for the HR group was −1.01 µV (SE = .98) and −2.33 µV (SE = .76) for the primed and unprimed words, respectively. Repeated measures ANCOVA of the amplitude measure showed a main effect for the semantic condition and significant interaction effect between semantic condition and group (table 2). Both groups as a whole had more negative amplitude for the unprimed word compared to primed word. HR subjects exhibited a more negative N4 for primed word compared to LR subjects. For the unprimed condition, the groups did not differ on N4 (Figure 2 & 4a). Significant differences between primed and unprimed words were observed in the LR, but not in HR group (Figure 2 & 4b). These differences are also clearly depicted in the topographical representation (Figure 3).
