Text

study by Walters et al. attempted to replicate 18 BMI/obesity-associated CNVs and only replicated a rare 220 kb deletion on 16p11.2 [51]. Therefore, it is conceivable that the collections of CNVs examined here contained a greater number of false positives than true variants, thereby reducing the potential for replication by a risk score. Large-scale BMI/obesity-associated CNV meta-analyses are needed to validate reported variants and to accurately characterize the magnitude of their effects.
