Therefore, it is conceivable that the collections of CNVs examined here contained a greater number of false positives than true variants, thereby reducing the potential for replication by a risk score. Large-scale BMI/obesity-associated CNV meta-analyses are needed to validate reported variants and to accurately characterize the magnitude of their effects.
