HADS data were available in an independent cohort of 517 participants from the Lothian region, born in 1921 (LBC1921) and assessed on psychological distress at ~79 years [31]. Further details of the mood inventory data collection can be found in Gow and colleagues [32]. SNP genotyping was performed with the Illumina Human610-Quadv1 Chip with SNPs imputed to ~2.4M based on HAPMAP II data. For further details see Luciano and colleagues [25]. Replication testing, using PLINK, was performed for association findings from the main analysis.
