Network functional connectivity was examined at a region-wise and edge-wise basis. Region-wise connectivity (SR) was defined as the sum of each region’s connectivity with all other regions, as calculated using absolute correlation values in each individual’s unthresholded functional connectivity matrix. The measure reflected how strongly connected each region was with the rest of the network. Edge-wise connectivity (SE) simply reflected the correlation value for each pair of regional beta series (i.e., each element in each {78 × 78} functional connectivity matrix; see Figure 1).
