Unpaired t tests were used to compare groups of subjects with different clinical diagnoses (for example, subjects with mood disorders versus subjects without mood disorders). The relationships between DNA methylation, expression, age at death, PMI and brain pH were analyzed using linear regression analysis. Factorial ANOVA were used for in vitro analyses of NR3C1 promoter, followed by post hoc analyses. Statistical significance was determined at P ≤ 0.05 and analyses included type 1 error correction for multiple comparisons where applicable.
