Data are presented as mean ± SEM. Rectification indices (RI) were calculated from the following equation: RI=[I/(16−EREV)][I/(−124−EREV)] where I represents current amplitude and E REV indicates the reversal potential of currents. The number of experimental replicates is denoted as “n” while “N” represents number of de novo preparations from which n is obtained. The Shapiro‐Wilk test was used to assess whether data were normally distributed and then either a Student's t test or a Mann Whitney U test were used to determine statistical significance with *, p < 0.05; **, p < 0.01; and ***, p < 0.001.
