which shows a similar tissue specific pattern for Selectin E and selection P, with significant expression in multiple tissues, while selectin L is found in only a few tissues. Thus, an individual homozygous in either one of the deleterious SNPs will likely have a subclinically affected inflammatory response, because of redundancy of function. But an individual with both may have an epistatic interaction between them, and be seriously sick. Both are candidates for inflammation related disease association studies.
