AIC is valid for model comparison only when all models are fit to the same data. Therefore, participants who were missing either the entire ASQ or SRE or did not provide alcohol use data were excluded from all analyses (n = 5 placebo; n = 10 alcohol). Additionally, individuals in the alcohol group whose peak BrAC did not reach at least 0.059% (n = 9) or was greater than 0.12% (n = 1) were excluded, as were placebo participants who did not finish their beverage (n = 9). One participant was excluded for reporting nonzero subjective intoxication at baseline. Therefore, the final sample used for analyses included 423 individuals (ns = 219 and 204 in the alcohol and placebo groups, respectively).
