To address whether ASQ scores predict inter-individual variability in post-consumption alcohol responses, as well as how the ASQ’s prediction of variation in response trajectories compares with the SRE, each subjective response outcome was modeled as a function of the interaction of time post-consumption, beverage group, sex, and one of the alcohol sensitivity measures (i.e., ASQ-Heavy, ASQ-Light, or SRE 3-mo.), as well as all lower-order interactions and main effects. This model allows for an effect of time (effects varying as BrAC rises and falls), moderated by beverage group (alcohol participants should experience more change over time than placebo participants), moderated by sex (men and women might differ in their response to alcohol), moderated by scores on the ASQ or SRE (those with higher scores should show different effect trajectories than those with lower scores). By comparing analogous ASQ-based and SRE-based models, one can determine whether scores on one measure more effectively capture the variance in the data than scores on the other measure.
