A number of studies applied spontaneous EEG microstate analysis to assess changes in global brain coordination in association with spontaneous thoughts [34] or brain maturation [29]. In addition, alterations of microstates have been reported in schizophrenia [35]–[37], depression [38], and Alzheimer’s disease [39]-[40]. However, no previous study analyzed resting state EEG in anxiety disorder as a function of spatially separate microstate classes.
