Previous studies have reported that induction of autophagy can reduce the association of TBC1D5 with the retromer CSC and that TBC1D5 has a role in autophagy (Popovic et al., 2012; Popovic and Dikic, 2014). Interestingly, it has been reported that induction of autophagy can lead to increased Glut1 trafficking to the cell surface (Roy and Debnath, 2017; Roy et al., 2017). We show that loss of TBC1D5 can reduce the amount of endosomally localised Glut1 and can enhance the colocalisation of the CIMPR with TGN46.
