Alternative mRNA splicing associations were inferred from GWAS summary statistics from a study on problematic alcohol use, which we refer to as AUD for simplicity. AUD in this GWAS was defined as a DSM-V AUD diagnosis, a DSM-IV alcohol dependence diagnosis, or a log10 transformed metric of the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Tests—problem drinking items. This study used 435,563 individuals of European ancestry (Age range = 22–90)11 across three major cohorts: the (1) Million Veteran’s Project, (2) Psychiatric Genomics Consortium and (3) United Kingdom BioBank.
