As with both initiation of drinking and onset of dependence, men of all race/ethnicities transitioned from drinking initiation to development of alcohol dependence at a higher rate than women of the same race/ethnicity (Whites: logrank χ2 = 124.00; Blacks: logrank χ2 = 29.33; Hispanics: logrank χ2 = 13.24, all p- values < 0.001)
