SNPs, 471 SNPs were nominally associated with alcohol dependence (1.7×10−7≤p≤0.047), 53 of which survived region-wide and cohort-wide correction for multiple testing (corrected α=1.7×10−5). The risk alleles of all 471 markers were minor alleles (f<0.5). The top-ranked 27 SNPs (p<10−6; Table 1) were all located in SERINC2 in LD Block 2. Ninety-two SNPs of these 471 risk markers were also nominally associated with alcohol dependence in the Australian replication sample (0.001≤p≤0.049; Table 2), all of which had a same effect direction (OR>1) and similar effect sizes to those in the European-American discovery sample, and most of which were located in LD Block 2.
