variant in the 6q21 region, which were identified at suggestive levels of significance in a previous study (6). We also note that SNPs at the RAD51L1 locus reported as genome-wide significant for association with ‘number of teeth’ in Pillas et al. (6) did not meet the 5 × 10−8 threshold in this study, although there was still suggestive evidence for association at this locus [‘Age at first tooth’ (rs17105278): P = 2.1 × 10−6; ‘Number of teeth’(rs1956529): P = 6.4 × 10−7].
