RXR β and γ apparently play minor roles in the liver: it has been demonstrated in mice that RXRα null/RXRγ null and RXRβ null/RXRγ null mutant phenotypes were indistinguishable from those of RXRα null and RXRβ null mutants, and that the presence of a single allele of RXRα is sufficient to perform most of RXR functions [96].
