About 42% of mothers in both married stepfamilies and single-mother families smoked. Similarly, 12% of mothers in two biological parent married families drank weekly (44% never drank) versus 21% (31% never drank) of mothers of adolescents in cohabiting stepfamilies. Again, mothers in married stepfamilies and single-mother families were in the middle with 14% drinking weekly (37% and 43%, respectively, never drank).
