Specific hypotheses were tested using one subject per family. We found that male gender was significantly associated with comorbid SUD (Fischer’s exact test, χ2=2.116, p<0.001) and that history of depression was significantly associated with SUD (Fischer’s exact test, χ2=6.479, p=0.013). Furthermore, individuals with SUD had a higher rate of unemployment than individuals with SC only (Fischer’s exact test, χ2=6,773, p=0.010). Binary logistic regression showed that SUD was a significant predictor of unemployment (SUD: B=0.746, Wald=5.774, df=1, p=0.016, odd ratio=2.159). Gender was not related to unemployment. In this procedure we used the variable employment as a dependent variable and predictors were SUD and gender.
