No PGS was significantly associated with alcohol transitions (HR = 0.95–1.08, p ⩾ 0.035, pFDR ⩾ 0.29; Fig. 3; online Supplementary Table S9). Post hoc analyses showed that generalized anxiety disorder PGS was associated with faster progression from first intoxication to first AUD symptoms in the European ancestry subsample (HR = 1.10, p = 4.10 × 10−3, pFDR = 0.025; online Supplementary Table S10).
