The HFD significantly increased the BW of male WT mice after 3 weeks, relative to their LFD counterparts, while the WT females needed an additional 6 weeks for an equivalent increase (Figure 1B). The 11 week BW gain for both genders was suppressed by Cyp1b1 deletion (Figure 1B). In females, the BW suppression at 36 weeks reached levels that were comparable to those observed in the 11 week male mice (Figure 1C). This was associated with a suppression of adiposity, as measured by decreased mass of epididymal and inguinal adipose tissue depots in male and female mice (Figure 1D), respectively, which correlated with the BW changes (Figure S2A and S2B). Suppression of adiposity in Cyp1b1-ko mice was also seen on the LFD (Figure 1D).
