The adipose response of male Cyp1b1-ko offspring to the HFD divided into three levels of suppression that correlated with the BW changes, often within the same litter: 60–85 percent suppression (8/17), 30–50 percent suppression (7/17), no suppression (2/17) (Figure 1D). The female littermates were consistently more highly suppressed. These data were collected from Cyp1b1-ko mice obtained from multiple litters over three generations, with similar response variability throughout this period. In later studies, which included Cyp1b1-ko mice from other laboratories, the proportion of mice exhibiting resistance to suppression was higher. These resistant mice have been examined further (see below).
