Text

Liver and fat pad each undergo extensive development between birth and 3 weeks post-weaning [31–32]. The BW commonly varied by 50–100 percent in the mice at weaning (7- to 14 g), particularly in the Cyp1b1-ko colony. However, weaning weight did not correlate with the 11 week BW (Maguire and Larsen, unpublished data). Notably, differences in weaning weight equalized within this initial three weeks on either diet. This rapid post-weaning correction in BW suggests that the differences at weaning arise from the access or response to maternal milk. Adiposity and BW were similarly suppressed by Cyp1b1 deletion when a 6 week HFD exposure was initiated during (3–9 weeks) or after (6–12 weeks) this adaptation period (Figure S2C).
