Table 1 provides sample descriptive information for demographic and key analytic variables compared by sex. The sample (N=867) was 52.94% female. There were no differences in the proportion of racial/ethnic groups between males and females in the analytic sample. Just over half the sample identified as White and about a third of the sample identified as Black/African American. Females were slightly younger than males at baseline, though the average age for both groups at first assessment was 14 years of age. Male participants reported significantly greater maximum drinks in 24 hours and AUD symptoms at follow-up 3 compared to female participants. Male participants were also more likely to endorse childhood non-assaultive and physical assaultive trauma, whereas females were more likely to report sexual assaultive trauma. Female participants also reported significantly more PTSD symptoms (mean = 1.44) than males (mean = 0.74) at Follow-up 3, though the overall number of PTSD symptoms was relatively low in both groups. Females had slightly higher APOEε4 dose, but there were no differences in the proportion of female versus male APOEε4 carriers.
