In addition, we performed a series of 18 case-control GWAS analyses of AUDIT total score using different thresholds (cases: ≥8, 10, 12, 15, 18, 20 vs controls: ≤2, 3, 4). The sample size at each threshold is shown in Supplementary Table 2. The results of these analyses were used to determine which thresholds would produce the highest genetic correlation estimates with DSM-IV defined alcohol dependence (13).
