Chunk #94 — Results and discussion — Analysis of Akt/mTOR phosphoprotein pathway throughout the brain after chronic alcohol: Decreased expression of multiple mTOR/Akt phosphoproteins in 3xTg-AD alcohol-exposed mice (1-month post alcohol) — Hippocampus
In previous studies of AD, P70S6K is more often reported to be increased (An et al., 2003; Jin-Jing, 2008); however, alcohol has been reported to decrease P70S6K like it has been observed here (Hagner et al., 2009; Li & Ren, 2007), but to increase with acute exposure (Fu et al., 2016). Because this comparison is limited to saccharin or alcohol drinking 3xTg-AD mice, future studies will have to reconcile the differential effects on the phosphorylation of the P70S6K protein and the magnitude of the effects compared to wild-type mice.
