We tested 15 biological processes related to lipid, fatty acid and steroid metabolism defined by the PANTHER classification method (http://www.pantherdb.org/) [42], and 36 gene sets related to lipid, lipoprotein and fatty acid metabolism defined by Gene Ontology [43], which include 7 molecular functions and 29 biological processes. The Gene Ontology gene sets were taken from the Molecular Signatures Database (MsigDB, http://www.broad.mit.edu/gsea/msigdb/collections.jsp).
