Text

Trait anxiety was measured using the Spence Children’s Anxiety Scale (Spence 1998), comprising 38 self-report items assessing the frequency with which participants experience feelings of separation anxiety, social phobia, obsessive compulsive behaviours, panic, fear of physical injury and generalised anxiety. Examples include “I worry what other people think of me”. Response options were never (0), sometimes (1), often (2), always (3). Cronbach’s alpha was 0.91.
