In examining the right hemisphere model, Ellis (1990) found that older alcoholics performed significantly worse on the performance subtests of the WAIS–R compared with younger alcoholics and with both younger and older nonalcoholic control subjects, thus providing support for accelerated aging in chronic alcoholics.
