The cortical thicknesses of 34 Desikan-Killiany cortical regions from both hemispheres were extracted from structural T1-weighted MRI brain scans using FreeSurfer (version 5.3 or 7.1) [23]. More details about MRI data processing and quality control may be found in Supplementary Methods. Participants with any region that was rejected for low quality during the quality control were excluded. Regional data that exceeded 3 times the interquartile range (3IQR) were clipped to the 3IQR values.
