In contrast, social competence at late childhood as well as internalizing problems at Wave 3 negatively predicted externalizing problem at late adolescence (CR = −2.32, p < .05; CR = −2.35, p < .05, respectively). Furthermore, internalizing at Wave 3 negatively predicted CAD at Wave 4 (CR = −2.30, p < .05). Finally, child maltreatment status prior to age 8 maintained a significant contribution to prediction of CAD symptoms at Wave 4 (CR = 2.69, p < .01).
