31 years in a model adjusting for various characteristics of the first drinking episode as well as gender, socioeconomic status and religion. However, neither AFD nor context of first drink was a statistically significant predictor of alcohol problems in a multivariate model adjusting also for other risk factors (regression coefficient: −0.0631, p>0.05). The strongest predictor of adult alcohol problems was whether one felt drunk at first episode and this was highly significant in all analyses, including the multivariable model with the most rigorous adjustment for confounders (regression coefficient: 0.3848, p<0.0001).
