Descriptive statistics for the GENOA studies contributing previously unpublished GWAS of opioid addiction (OA) to this investigation are provided in Supplementary Table 1, and full descriptions of the studies are provided in the Supplementary Methods. In total, this analysis provides new OA GWAS results for 304,831 individuals, including 7281 cases and 297,550 controls, with an effective sample size of 28,428 (4/((1/# Cases) + (1/# Controls)))62,63.
