that all participants were asked to abstain from alcohol use for at least 2 weeks prior to participation in this study whereas playing Internet games and Internet usage were not restricted. It is possible that the brain dysfunction of the AUD group was underestimated due to this abstinence but it was impossible to avoid the acute and direct effects of alcohol consumption on brain activity and blood pressure, among other factors. Of these possible explanations, the influence of the psychological variables seems to be the most plausible because the AUD patients tended to show increased theta coherence prior to controlling for these characteristics.
