Table 1 presents the demographics for the study. The study groups and (within STAA and LTAA) DAO and DASD were comparable on age and did not differ on any alcohol use measure nor on the prevalence of psychiatric comorbidities (Fein, in press). DAO and DASD differed on age of alcohol dependence diagnosis, with individuals with alcohol dependent individuals with a lifetime stimulant disorder meeting criteria for alcohol dependence 5–7 years earlier than those without a lifetime stimulant disorder (F1,71 = 16.5, p < .0001, es = 18.8% for STAA and F1,86 = 10.6, p = .002, es = 11.0% for LTAA).
