The sign tests showed no consistent directions of effect (proportion was .51, .50 and .50 respectively) for SNPs selected for different p-value thresholds (.05, .001 and .0001). Moreover, Fisher exact tests showed no evidence for enrichment of SNPs with low p-values across sex, regardless of sign (odds ratio was .9 and 1.1 for p-values .05 and .001 respectively, for more details and the number of SNPs per test, see Table S6).
