heavy social drinkers and problem drinkers showed greater delay discounting than lighter social drinkers and also scored higher on various self-report measures, including the Sensation Seeking Scale (SSS; Zuckerman, 1979), the Stanford Time Perspective Inventory (STPI; Zimbardo, 1990), and the Consideration of Future Consequences scale (CFCS; Strathman, Gleicher, Boninger, and Edwards, 1994). Notably, however, discounting showed only a very modest relationship to the self-report measures of sensation seeking, consideration of future consequences, and time estimation, suggesting that they measure distinct dimensions of impulsivity, if even considered dimensions of impulsivity.
