CNTN6 is a GPI-anchored cell adhesion molecule that can act as a Notch ligand, triggering nuclear translocation of the Notch intracellular domain. This interaction can promote formation of oligodendroglia from progenitor cells and increase expression of myelin-associated glycoprotein in oligodendrocytes [194]. Neuronal expression in hippocampal, cerebral cortical, cerebellar and thalamic subdivisions in adult brain could contribute to the motor incoordination phenotypes noted in knockout mice [195, 196].
