Gene-level expression was estimated for 26,493 transcripts by calculating the Winsorized mean (below 10% and above 90%) signal of all probe sets corresponding to each gene. We added the prefix “t” to the expression ID of gene-level expression probes to easily distinguish them from exon-level probes. The resulting expression data were residual-adjusted for brain bank, gender and batch effects in Partek’s Genomics Suite v6.6 (Partek Incorporated, USA). For each donor, we also calculated the mean expression profile (denoted as average-all) across the available brain regions for each expression ID. This was aimed at finding weaker but ubiquitous signals in the human brain.
