The relationship stressors domain consists of five measures adapted from the Americans’ Changing Lives study (House et al., 1994): marital stressors, marital abuse, child-related stressors, an inventory of problems experienced by one’s children, and friend criticism. Early life stressors assess adversities prior to age twelve, including abuse, educational neglect, and hunger. Finally, community stressors combine measures of community disorder, community violence, and personal victimization adapted from the PHDCN (Sampson et al., 1997).
