Finally, while different types of suicidal and drug-abusing populations have exhibited poor impulse control, studies have typically relied on a single type of behavioral measure administered at a single time point. Assessments of multiple components of impulse control, both as predictors and ongoing behaviors across time are needed to determine how different characteristics of impulsivity relate to suicidal and drug-use behaviors (Dougherty et al. 2004b; Erinoff et al. 2004).
