Text

The overall median duration of follow-up was 12.1 months (95% CI: 12.0–12.2). Seventy-two percent of subjects were retained at 1-year follow-up and 79% of subjects were retained for one or more post-hospitalization assessments. A history of mental health problems among at least one biological parent was not related to loss to follow-up (duration of follow-up time was not statistically different when stratified by parental history, p = .40). Similarly, there was no difference in the proportion of adolescents with parental mental health problems between those who returned for at least one follow-up assessment and those who contributed only baseline data. The 42 participants who did not contribute follow-up beyond baseline, however, had significantly higher CAFAS total scores compared to those who returned for at least one follow-up: CAFAS total mean of 104.8 (SD = 34.5) and 117.6 (SD = 37.7) for those with and without follow-up, respectively (p = .04).
