The Collaborative Study on the Genetics of Alcoholism (COGA) has followed a set of families affected by AUD for many years. The original study targeted families of probands in treatment for AUD at seven centers across the United States, as well as a smaller set of comparison families drawn from the same communities (Nurnberger et al., 2004; Reich et al., 1998). The data presented here draw from the prospective cohort of COGA, described in detail elsewhere (Bucholz et al, 2017; McCutcheon et al 2017). Briefly, the COGA prospective cohort targeted individuals aged 12–22 at first assessment who had at least one parent who was interviewed in an earlier wave of COGA. Data collection of the prospective cohort began in 2004 and is ongoing. Participants in the prospective cohort are recruited on a rolling basis and contacted every two years for assessment with the Semi-Structured Assessment for the Genetics of Alcoholism (SSAGA-IV) (for those 18 or older) or Children and Adolescent’s SSAGA (C-SSAGA-IV; for those aged 12–17). Results presented here reflect all assessments of individuals enrolled and interviewed beginning in January
